Went for lunch and wasn't very busy. Hongkong vibe inside and delicious foods. Had toast with honey and fried leg with rice. Huge portion for two people and nice cup of tea as well.
One of my favourite cha-chaan tengs in HK. Such great value for money for such great quality food. The fried chicken leg with curry sauce was amazing. The chicken was crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside. Skin wasn’t too oily and overly battered. French toast with ovaltine powder was one of the more unique French toasts I’ve tried, also included ovaltine/chocolate bites on top. Very delicious. Thankfully included peanut butter inside as well. Dining area was fairly clean and spacious. Staff were fairly friendly. Even at 2pm we had to wait for 5-10 minutes, a testament to the restaurants popularity.
Had a warm & friendly experience in here. The boss is very helpful in assisting us for the order as well as directing us to his another Thai/Chinese restaurant nearby to use the toilet. Nice food especially the polo bun.
Cha chaan teng with a charming old-school interior, serving good food with good service. We tried the pork lard rice dinner set, and it’s pretty good value. Comes with soup and red bean dessert. Ordered the mala chicken with zucchini and the chicken was tender and flavourful, mala was balanced and not overpowering. Would be happy to come back and try their other items.
For a 4.2 rated cafe, I was surprised that there is no queue. Such is the sorry state of local F&B in HK as most head off to Shenzhen for their meals. This cafe is as old school as it may be - nostalgic and frozen in the 1960s. Food is average trending towards good. Customer service is average too. Nevertheless it is a good cafe to go and try some local HK fare.
A nice place for a simple breakfast. It is in one of the street that is not quite busy so you should be able to get a seat. The food is what one can expect 茶餐厅 but they had interesting pork lard rice that didn’t try (since it is breakfast)
Had a pretty decent cha chaan teng food and experience here. I ordered tomato soup with instant noodles, egg and sausage here and it tasted like childhood. The interior is also very old school. Staff were nice. Be prepared to share a table with others especially during busy time.
I liked the atmosphere, the inside is a classic retro cha chaan teng but staff are less brusque and happier to help than other old-school cha chaan tengs. It’s run and staffed by young HK people. There an English/Korean/Japanese menu with pictures. I got scrambled eggs, pineapple bun and reduced sugar iced milk tea. Total 42 HKD, which is quite reasonable. Scrambled eggs pretty much perfect. Pineapple bun unfortunately disappointing, it was below average, I definitely did not get a fresh one. The butter was average and had some ‘left in the fridge’ taste. Despite that, overall a positive experience.
